The other night my girlfriend and I rented a couple if movies from Family Video. She chose a few of the newer ones and I chose a couple from the dollar section. When we got home we chose to watch one of the movies that I had picked out. The first ten or fifteen minutes of the movie seemed to be going smoothly until the dvd froze up. I tried to fastforward through the part and get as close to the frozen scene as possible. The movie continued on for about five or six minutes and then once again the dvd froze up. So we went through the fastforward thing again and again till we both just decided to throw in the towel. She said she was going to take it back but didn't know if she should ask for the dollar back or not since it is just a dollar. Then I told her "do you know how much you could get for a dollar? Yes, ask for the dollar back!"
What I don't understand is how hard it is for an employee to check for smudges and scratches on the dvd's when they are returned to the store. I know that when I rent a movie, I want to watch the movie without being interrupted by inconviences that can easily be avoided with a simple check of a disk. I mean, come on, a movie is returned, the clerk looks at the disk, the clerk puts disk back into case, the job is done. How hard is that when all I want to do is watch a good movie without it having scratches and jumping back to previous scenes or just freezing in place. So, can I have my dollar back?

How come my blog didn't submit
My blog didn't post after i posted my blog about my autoethnography wednesday night. I came on here to give a blog response but first i went to check my grades and it said i had no blog posted, I posted it last night, Wednesday september 23.
Autoethnography?
When it came down to writing this last assignment, I had no idea what I was doing. I knew I had to write it about specific events that took place in my subculture. I knew we had to show but not tell the reader. I also knew that we had to use sensory words to take place of the "be" verbs.
I had my topic, I had ideas, but when it came to writing my paper, I went brain dead. I was writing my paper and all I could think about is desribing my topic without showing why I was apart of that subculture. Looking at the word autoethnography messed me up enough. I understood what it meant after we went over it in class. Writing the paper. . . . way more difficult than I thought it would be. I sat down to write, my mind raced, I couldn't understand how to use sensory words, even after doing a few examples in class.
Once I got my peer response sheet back, it just proved my point, I do not know how to write a autoethnograhy. It did give me a way better understanding how to write it, the peer response and help from Stephanie did provide me a better understanding into revising my sheet. Which I still need to do for tomorrow's class.

KANYE WTF Mate
Ok, I don’t if anyone of you watched the VMA’s the other night, if you didn’t, neither did I. I didn’t watch it but I did hear about Kanye’s incident and I had to investigate it a little more.
For the best video or something of that title, I guess it came down between Beyonce and Taylor Swift. The hosts blurted out Taylor’s name and the look on Taylor’s face was disbelief. She even believed she was going to lose to the very talented and powerful star, Beyonce. Taylor was in the middle of her speech saying how shocked she is to win such an award because she sings country and what not. Kanye comes out of nowhere and takes the mic from Taylor. Kanye was like, “No disrespect Taylor, I will let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time.”
He hands back the mic and she is dumbfounded, the crowd is booing at Kanye and cheering for Taylor at the same time. Taylor said two more things thanking her fans and MTV and walks off stage shocked that someone would do this.
My opinion, I never really liked Kanye, I always thought he was way into himself and the fame and money rather than entertaining people. To me, I always thought Kanye was selfish. I don’t really like country all that much but when someone wins an award, just be happy for them. Beyonce was also dumbfounded. The look on her face was like, what is this guy thinking.
Later, Kanye apologized on Jay Leno’s new show. He sounded considerate, but I think he is just doing that to clear his wrong doing, rather than actually meaning his apology towards Taylor.

The Way I Write
Each and every day I do some sort of writing. It doesn’t matter where I am at; I will be doing some form of writing. At school, I will either be writing down notes, taking a test, or I can be writing a paper in class. Even after school I am still doing some kind of writing. I will be either texting or doing homework. Each type of writing I do in my life is in one way or another different; different in what I write or how I write, it’s some sort of different form writing.
I can’t remember specific writing experiences, but I can remember that I have done many kinds of writing for teachers in all classes. Some more interesting than others, most of them boring. I know that I write differently depending on the situation. For example, in a text message to a friend, words are shortened and there are no punctuations to end what I am saying. Also, in a text message, the only word that is capitalized is the very first word of the text, which is done automatically by the phone. Writing for school teachers, the writings are more serious. I write more carefully and more precise. Words are spelled write, proper punctuations, and the sentences make sense. Depending on the seriousness of the writing for school, I will more than likely create an outline to guide me through it. Creating an outline is usually done when I write an assignment that is worth a lot of points. Outlines make my writing cleaner and more organized then when I just write something.
Most of my writing is done in the comfort of my home, just like now, as I am writing this blog. I feel as if more ideas come to me when I am at home. When I write in this class, although I haven’t written much, I feel as if I can write during class. As time goes on, I would like to see how my writing skills progress through this class.

LEtter to Stephanie
Dear Stephanie,
My name is Devin Freitag, I am from Morton, Illinois. I attended Morton High School and participated on the High School Varsity Soccer team. I received First Team All Conference and First Team All Sectional and played in the Mid-Illini/Mid-State 6 All Star game. I’m currently on the ICC Men’s soccer team on a soccer scholarship. I been playing soccer since I was 3 years old.
My personal goals are to be a good soccer player and do well in school by managing my time and getting good grades. I’m setting these goals because this is what my dad wanted and also my family. My dad recently passed away in June of 2009, from a brain tumor. I also had to put my dog to sleep this last Monday due to bone cancer.
My favorite subjects are history and math. My favorite movies are Forrest Gump, Step Brothers, and Band of Brothers. My special memories that I have are with my dad and my dog, Cappuccino (Cappi). My hobbies are playing soccer and hunting in the winter. My favorite people are God, family, and Cristiano Ronaldo. Cristiano Ronaldo is my favorite soccer player. My favorite foods are pizza, chicken ‘n’ noodles, and bruschetta.
Sincerely,
Devin Freitag

get ready for huntin fool!
IF your are an avid hunter like I am, then I hope you are ready for another great year of fun, excitement, and fighting the bitter cold. The seasons I look forward to are all the shotgun seasons for white tail deer and turkey seasons. I’m normally a big game hunter but I will find myself hunting small game like squirrels and rabbits and even birds. Bow hunting for white tails starts as early as October and goes on into January of the next year (i.e. October 2009- January 2010). I have not completely gotten into bow hunting just yet like my father was. I may find myself going in that direction sometime in the future.
Hunting, for me, is more of a family thing. It’s a time that I am able to spend with my family that I never really get to see throughout the year. When I go hunting, I go to a small town called Rushville, Illinois. Through the three seasons of deer hunting and one season of turkey hunting, I spend about a weeks worth of time talking with family and enjoying the outdoors. Hunting gives me a time to get away from home and allows me to relax by spending my time being outside.
Back to my favorite season, opening day/season for hunting whitetail deer with a shotgun. Shotgun season starts and ends the third weekend in November, usually a week before Thanksgiving. This season is where I spend my time with family that I never get to see. The weekend is full of hunting stories, laughter, and more importantly the homemade, country-style food.
There are other hunting seasons which are less popular but still provide the same excitement as opening season. I hunt during second season in the first weekend of December and late season during the third weekend in January. All seasons are freezing cold but I don’t mind the cold. Turkey hunting comes later during the year, I hunt during one of the seasons in April where it’s hot out.
All in all hunting is a huge part of my life because it revolves around things I enjoy doing and family I enjoy seeing.
