Can I Get My Doll-Hair Back?

The other night my girlfriend and I rented a couple if movies from Family Video. She chose a few of the newer ones and I chose a couple from the dollar section. When we got home we chose to watch one of the movies that I had picked out. The first ten or fifteen minutes of the movie seemed to be going smoothly until the dvd froze up. I tried to fastforward through the part and get as close to the frozen scene as possible. The movie continued on for about five or six minutes and then once again the dvd froze up. So we went through the fastforward thing again and again till we both just decided to throw in the towel. She said she was going to take it back but didn't know if she should ask for the dollar back or not since it is just a dollar. Then I told her "do you know how much you could get for a dollar? Yes, ask for the dollar back!"
What I don't understand is how hard it is for an employee to check for smudges and scratches on the dvd's when they are returned to the store. I know that when I rent a movie, I want to watch the movie without being interrupted by inconviences that can easily be avoided with a simple check of a disk. I mean, come on, a movie is returned, the clerk looks at the disk, the clerk puts disk back into case, the job is done. How hard is that when all I want to do is watch a good movie without it having scratches and jumping back to previous scenes or just freezing in place. So, can I have my dollar back?

  1. Lol! This blog entry is great! It almost
seems sad to request for the dollar back,
but it's good that you did! Yeah, they should
keep a better eye on the Dvds! If a clean
disk returns shitty, make the bad renter pay
for a new copy! Then this stuff wouldn't happen!

  2. I know I would have asked for the dollar back too if I were you. A dollar can go a long way today if you know where to spend it. The best food deals on earth are Taco Bell's value meals. You can get full there for under two bucks, maybe three if you are really hungry. But yeah I don't know why employees don't check dvds when they come back, seeing as it is pretty much their job to do so.

  3. Hello! Why do you think that dollar tree exists??? lol That's a whole lot of one-dollar-ness! Except maybe then there's tax... Then that kind of defeats the purpose. Oh well. Nice reference back to Chuck and Larry by the way.=] So did you get your dollar back?

  4. Haha this is so true. This happens to me with the older movies all the time. It's very upsetting. They even have a DVD cleaner behind the counter!! I've made them clean quite a few of my movies. Next time, though, you should have them check before you leave.
