HERZLICH WILLKOMMEN

"Sincere Welcome"

Travel Essays, were better than I thought it would be. At first i couldn't decide what to write about. Stephanie suggested, the Peoria Hofbrau, write about my german heritage. Then i thought, i don't want to go there to do homework. I would rather just go there and enjoy the environment but most importantly, the food. I forced myself to give the interview with Henrietta, part owner/employee. She was delighted she had the opportunity to have an interview with me. The employees there are the most polite and joyful waitresses i have ever had. They want you to start up convos with them.

I just got done writing my travel essay and I have to say, in my opinion, it was the most fun i had in writing. Even in my whole writing experience, i dont think I have had as much fun writing this essay. I wrote about an authentic German restaurant/pub, the Peoria Hofbrau. The place made me feel like home in Germany. The food, all made fresh from fresh produce and meat. Nothing is packaged, everything is made from scratch in the kitchen. They feed you plenty like Germany, they give you a lot and the prices are equivalent to the amount of food you get.

The atmosphere was just "Germany" As I was writing this essay I felt intuned with my writing as it came to me. If this were any other paper that I wasn't interested in writing, i probably wouldn't have written as much or as good as i felt I did. I can see improvements with my writings as we move through this semester. Especially after this writing assignment i feel i am progressing little by little. Yes, i still have flow issues but im sure i will correct that as i write more. I feel like this paper will be even better after a conference meeting and revising it. Which im thankful for

  1. I'm so happy to hear this. You definitely connected with your topic and had a purpose to write this outside of an assignment. Plus, you had an excellent "topic." When you are emotionally invested in your paper, you are going to be much more successful because you really care about the outcome.
