Ok, I don’t if anyone of you watched the VMA’s the other night, if you didn’t, neither did I. I didn’t watch it but I did hear about Kanye’s incident and I had to investigate it a little more.
For the best video or something of that title, I guess it came down between Beyonce and Taylor Swift. The hosts blurted out Taylor’s name and the look on Taylor’s face was disbelief. She even believed she was going to lose to the very talented and powerful star, Beyonce. Taylor was in the middle of her speech saying how shocked she is to win such an award because she sings country and what not. Kanye comes out of nowhere and takes the mic from Taylor. Kanye was like, “No disrespect Taylor, I will let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time.”
He hands back the mic and she is dumbfounded, the crowd is booing at Kanye and cheering for Taylor at the same time. Taylor said two more things thanking her fans and MTV and walks off stage shocked that someone would do this.
My opinion, I never really liked Kanye, I always thought he was way into himself and the fame and money rather than entertaining people. To me, I always thought Kanye was selfish. I don’t really like country all that much but when someone wins an award, just be happy for them. Beyonce was also dumbfounded. The look on her face was like, what is this guy thinking.
Later, Kanye apologized on Jay Leno’s new show. He sounded considerate, but I think he is just doing that to clear his wrong doing, rather than actually meaning his apology towards Taylor.

I agree and not just with the part about not liking Kanye. Not only do his lyrics suck but I think he is racist for doing that to Taylor Swift. When I saw it I was wondering if it was a joke because you never know on those shows anymore. Then I realized he was saying Beyonce should have won. Why should she win for a video where they only dance the whole time. I think its all bullshit anyways and he was just apologizing because he could potentially lose a huge fanbase over this. Not to mention this is not the first time he has messed up on national tv. Tonite they were showing the Kanye episode of south park back to back. Which is great and I think they should do another one where they make fun of him. Hey did you know that Kanye likes fishsticks?lol
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. I didn't watch the vma's either but heard about what happened. That was a bunch of BS. Taylor is very talented and actually WRITES her own music. She deserved that award and for someone like Kanye to stand up and disrespect her in that winning momment is pretty low.
ReplyDeleteI complete agree with what the president said about this Kayne is just a jack ass. He proved it by doing this.
ReplyDeleteAs much as disrespectful he is, I still
ReplyDeletefeel bad for Kanye. He has been messed
up since his mother died. It still gives
him NO right to ruin someone's moment though.
Wow, he really knows who to run up on stage
and interrupt them. A nineteen year old girl
is going to do nothing about it, especially
someone sweet like Taylor Swift. In the end,
it was very gracious and respectful of Beyonce
to let Taylor finish speaking. Also, most
of the U.S. is on Taylor's side sticking up
for her. Hopefully, in the future, Kanye
will keep his trap shut! Not everyone needs
to know what he is thinking.
OK, Devin, so you've stated your opinion. I like it. Let's go a little bit deeper. Think: what does Kayne's behavior (and our response to it) say about our approach to celebrity? Fame? I like Kayne's music, but he keeps acting like such a tool.
ReplyDeleteWhat were your thoughts on President Obama's comment (or on the outrage that followed)?
